I Might Leave Sporting Lisbon's For Manchester United In Summer Transfer: William Carvalho

The Angolan-born holding midfielder, 21, has established himself as a key part of Leonardo Jardim's side after loan spells with Fatima and Cercle Brugge, and his impressive displays at the Estadio Jose Alvalade have attracted interest from some of the world's biggest clubs, but predominantly Manchester United. The Red Devils are in the market for central midfielders despite the summer arrival of Marouane Fellaini from Everton, and whilst the club have been linked with bigger names such as Toni Kroos of Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund's Ilkay Gundogan, Carvalho is a name that keeps being suggested for a summer switch to Old Trafford.

But with Real Madrid also watching the Portuguese international, the midfielder felt it was time to speak out about the speculation, suggesting that his future could lie with Moyes' side, but he will see what materialises in the summer, especially as he's likely to feature for Portugal at the World Cup in Brazil.

"It's nice being praised and to know there are some big clubs interested in me. My future could be Manchester United or Real Madrid. It's just nice to have a great European club after me, but at the moment I'm just totally focused on Sporting and doing my best until the end of the season. At the end of the campaign, we will see what happens," said Carvalho.

A powerful, energetic midfielder who can also play in defence, Carvalho is seen as the man who can inject some life in a comatose United midfield that has struggled for years. The stumbling block could be that Carvalho reportedly has a £37.5m release clause in his contract, which is a huge amount of money for a player who has only established himself as a first-team regular at Sporting this season.

With the Portuguese side seemingly under no pressure to sell at a discounted price, United may need to fork out almost £40m to secure the signing of Carvalho - yet with more well established players likely to be available at a similar price or even cheaper, should Moyes look elsewhere for midfield help?
