Kefee Finally Laid To Rest

Gospel Singer Kefee was laid to eternal rest in her hometown, Okpara, on the Saturday July 12th 2014, as friends and family cried in Ethiope East Local Government, Delta State. The mourners all carried black posters with Kefee’s photo and all wore black as they went to the burial site.

Football Governing Body FIFA, Has Suspended Nigeria And Stoped Falcons From Going To The Women World Cup

True to its threats, the World football governing body, FIFA, has suspended Nigeria till further notice following what it termed government interfered in the running of football in Nigeria. The most immediate effect of the ban is that Nigeria will not be allowed to participate in the upcoming FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, coming up in Canada between August 5 and 24, except the suspension is lifted by July 15, 2014. Also, the country will also forfeit an U-17 African qualifier in Democratic Republic of Congo, slated for July 20, if the ban is not lifted before that date.

But the NFF in a statement late on Wednesday denied that FIFA had stopped Falconets from travelling. In the statement by the NFF’s Acting General Secretary, Lawrence Katken, the body said, “It is a blatant lie to say FIFA refused to issue tickets to the Falconets. The Director of Defense Information, Chris Olukolade, who made this known in a statement, said the Islamist were ambushed by troops who repelled them during a pre-dawn attack on the targeted communities. Olukolade, however, revealed that troops on routine patrol around Banki and Miyanti in Borno State at the weekend fought through an ambush laid by terrorists resulting in casualties on both sides. He said the military casualty was among the soldiers that died over the weekend.

Bank Manager Commits Suicide In A Controversial Circumstance

On Saturday 5th of July 2014, Policemen attached to the Ibafo Police Division Ogun State recovered the decomposed body of the manager of a commercial bank, Mr. Habeeb Olatunde, at an uncompleted building at Arepo. The state’s Police Public Relations officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, explained that the decomposed body was found hanged in the building when the police detectives arrived at the scene.

Adejobi, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, added that preliminary investigation revealed that Olatunde committed suicide by hanging himself. He said, “Since Olatunde was declared missing on June 19, 2014, the police have intensified efforts to find him. However, his remains were discovered after a thorough search with the help of members of the community.”

N1.8m Job Scam: EFCC Rejects Settlement Claim By Accused Persons By Wilson Uwujaren

Request by two accused persons who are standing trial before Justice V. N Agbata of the Anambra State High Court Onitsha, on a 12-count charge of obtaining money under false pretence, that their trial be discontinued as they have settled with the complainant, was rejected by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

Bernard Sunday Chukwuma and Anyiam Isabella, were arraigned by the EFCC on May 19, 2014 for allegedly obtaining various sums of money totalling about N1,800,000.00 (one million, eight hundred thousand naira) from  one Okey Obiagwu and four others under the pretext of helping them to secure jobs at the Onitsha North LGA of Anambra State.
