Rumour Of Kidnapped Children Grips Parents Of Pupils in Ekpoma, Edo State

Academic activities were disrupted on Thursday morning last week at Zanna Nursery and Primary School, Ekpoma, Edo state, Nigeria, when the rumour of alleged kidnap of four children in the school filtered into town. There was pandemonium in the premises of Zanna Nursery and Primary School, Ekpoma as parents and relatives of pupils trooped into the school to ascertain the safety of their children.

When the gate of the school was thrown open, parents who was apparently scared of the news gladly took their children home. Some parents who spoke at the scene said, though they cannot ascertain the level of authenticity of the rumour they decided not to take chances.
The co-ordinator of the school, Mrs. Dame Alchidewu said the news of kidnap of four children of the school was a mere rumour which she said was a calculated attempt by some people to dent the image of the school. Security personnel were in the premises of the school to prevent any form of breakdown of law and order.
