See Photo Of The Biggest Ever Alligator Which Was Caught In Alabama

This 15ft beast was pulled from the water in south Alabama, USA, during the state's alligator hunting season. It was caught by Mandy and John Stokes, brother-in-law Kevin Jenkins and his children, 16-year-old Savannah and 14-year-old Parker.

"We give all the glory to God. Because ten men couldn't have done what we did," John said. The first attempt to weigh the gator destroyed a winch state biologists typically use, so instead a digger was employed to lift it.

The final weigh-in measured the beast at 1011.5 pounds – 459 kilos. Although the beast didn't go down without a fight and after the family got some hooks into it Mandy aimed her shotgun but missed.

The animal then towed the 17ft boat and its five passengers across the creek at startling speed, the hunters said. Eventually Mandy got another shot and the beast met its sad end.

The previous Alabama record was a 14ft two inch, 838 pound alligator in 2011.
