Man Utd, Arsenal and Southampton on alert for unsettled Argentine midfielder Ever Banega

Ever Banega is looking to leave Valencia in January

Ever Banega has fallen out of favour under Mirosalv Djukic at the Mestalla but remains an important player at international level for Argentina and with the World Cup on the horizon, reports in Argentina suggest that Alejandro Sabella has encouraged Banega to seek first team football in January.

In an interview with NapoliCalcioLive.com, the player's agent Marcelo Simonian has confirmed that his client has had contact with a number of clubs with a view to a possible move. He said: “I can only tell you that we are already talking with several clubs in relation to the next window.

Manchester United, Arsenal and Southampton are on alert after the agent of Banega confirmed he was looking to move in the January transfer window. “In the next few days I will be travelling to present all the options to Valencia.”

United are known to be in the market for midfield reinforcements in January, while Arsenal could also use a more defensive-minded player in that area of the pitch in case of further injuries to Mathieu Flamini. Southampton boss Manuel Pellegrini was also linked with a move for Banega over the summer and could rekindle his interest in the upcoming transfer window.

However, both Inter Milan and Napoli are also known to be keen with the latter hoping the experience of luring fellow Argentine Gonzalo Higuain from Spain to Italy will help them in their pursuit of Banega.
